Vicki Gunvalson happy Heather Dubrow isn’t on ‘RHOC,’ says their friendship was ‘vanilla’

Heather Dubrow is sorely missed by many RHOC fans but at least one of her co-stars, Vicki Gunvalson, is doing fine without her.

Real Housewives of Orange County returned for its 12th season this month without the often snarky Heather Dubrow. One of her co-stars, Vicki Gunvalson, says she doesn’t miss filming with Heather, mostly because of the mean girl feel she added to the show.

Of note, Vicki didn’t totally slam Heather. She tells the Daily Dish she enjoys her husband, Terry’s show, Botched and wishes her former castmate well. But Vicki doesn’t miss having her as part of the RHOC cast and says they were never close friends outside of the show.

Heather was on RHOC for five seasons. She announced her departure from the show in January. For better or for worse, it was a little odd for Heather not to pop up this season, but there seems to be plenty of drama without her. We’re just not so sure Lydia is a suitable replacement. In fact … no, she’s not.

Vicki’s doing just fine without Heather

During an interview with Bravo’s Daily Dish, Vicki was asked what it was like filming without Heather after filming with her for five seasons. Three words: “It was fine.”

Well, Vicki says more than that. Because she’s Vicki and she always has plenty to say. But, bottom line, she didn’t miss having Heather around, although she admits that she “always had a great relationship” with Dubrow prior to last season.

“For me it was fine,” Vicki told The Daily Dish. “I didn’t really appreciate what Heather did last year. She got on the bandwagon of Tamra and Shannon. Heather and I had always had a really great relationship …but when she started getting into the mean girl sector, it really took me off guard because I had a really great relationship with Heather. So, for me, it was time to get the mean girl separated a little bit.”

A vanilla friendship, at best

Since Heather left RHOC, Vicki hasn’t heard from her. But that’s really not a big deal.

Vicki tells the Daily Dish that they “never really kept in touch” when they were filming the show and she never considered Heather to be a close friend.

“We were very vanilla, we were very dear to each other, but I wouldn’t call us close friends,” Vicki said.
