Oz is apparently the place to have a fight in Potomac, but this time it was her business partner and husband Ashley Darby was at odds with.
We’ve learned a few key things about Oz, the restaurant Ashley Darby owns with her husband Michael, from watching Real Housewives of Potomac. First, its Australian-themed cuisine is not doing well with the citizens of Potomac. Second, this lack of success is putting a strain on the couple’s marriage. Third, it’s a great place for a fight.
Ashley may have rightly taken issue when Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon came to her business to air their grievances, but this fight was all on her, as she and Michael got into what Bravo describes as “one of the most explosive moments in RHOP history.”
It starts with a phone call as Ashley watches Michael, who has pulled up in front of the restaurant but won’t get out of the car. When she — and the cameras — find him on the street — and he waves off the cameras — things really escalate. She is, of course, mic-ed up, so you can hear just about everything. Including the line, “shut down your restaurant, shut down your event tonight, and this marriage will be over.”
Check it out below.
Of course, all the other wives of Potomac have their opinions and despite their differences, they’re standing by Ashley, especially since she admitted that she’s been taking her marriage issues out of the other women.
Gizelle Bryant had this to say to Bravo:
"I was so not ready for the Ashley/Michael showdown…chiiillllleee my eyes almost popped out of my head while my mouth stayed wide open, what in the world?! Like, OMG, WTF…HORRIBLE! I mean, if looks could kill Micheal would have died with 50 shots to the head and a knife in his neck. I totally understand Ashley’s frustration, she will not be CONTROLLED. Period. EVER. The End."
And followed it up with:
"I can only imagine the ton of bricks that she has on her shoulders trying to balance personal and professional. I will be here to support her until fun, spunky Ashley comes back. Girl Bang!"
Ashley, meanwhile, spoke to Bravo about the events, characterizing it as “a miscommunication that snowballed.” She added:
"In addition to the anxiety of hosting influential food bloggers, I was arguing with my right-hand man, putting my anxiety at a higher level than I’ve ever experienced. The reality is I hate arguing with my husband – life is hard enough game without battling your teammate."
As for her ultimatum, she told Bravo it came out of frustration and that “it was not prudent for me to say something as drastic as threatening to end my marriage because of a business.” Asked the current state of her marriage, Darby said they still love each other but also:
"I am optimistic that we can overcome these hurdles and be stronger in the end, but even if we can’t recover and decide to part ways, I will always cherish him."
Needless to say, it doesn’t sound like things are cooling down in Potomac anytime soon.
