The Real Housewives of Potomac's Karen Huger has officially been sentenced after she was found guilty of driving under the influence. And it seems that she will be facing jail time.
According to Deadline, Huger has been sentenced to two years in jail, although it seems that she will likely only be in prison for one year. It seems that one year of her sentence was suspended, likely in part due to her decision to attend rehab after she was found guilty of five charges out of the six that she was charged with in December 2024.
Reports around the verdict indicate that, "Huger was convicted of DUI, negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, and failure to notify authorities of an address change." The only charge that the housewife was not found guilty of was the one related to reckless driving.
While there is no news yet on when Karen Huger will be reporting to jail, it is clear that the judge was not going to let the reality star walk away without facing punishment for her actions. Rehab was simply not enough to make up for her actions and the dangerous decision she made to drive under the influence.
In a lot of ways, we are not surprised by the sentencing decision, as this was a serious crime and one that drew a lot of attention throughout Season 9 of RHOP. Plus, after the guilty verdict was announced the actual footage from the police body cams were released showing Karen Huger's behavior during her arrest. At one point she even tells the officer that she is the Grand Dame.
The fact that Karen Huger has been sentenced to actual jail time might be the wake-up call that she needed to make changes in her life. While the case itself was likely a start, the fact that her guilty verdict and now sentencing are making her answer for her actions means that Huger is going to have to make changes moving forward.
While we really hope to see Karen Huger make her grand return to RHOP, it definitely won't be happening any time soon. And perhaps when all of this is said and done, we will get to see a more humble version of Karen.
