Travis Kelce's dad shares his thoughts on Taylor Swift before they started dating
By Lacey Womack
It seems like everyone knows Taylor Swift's name, whether they love her or hate her. Now that she's in a relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce, she's more inescapable than ever with her reach now extending to football fans, meaning that Swifties get to see her supporting her beau each week, while some "dads, Brads, and Chads" are less excited to see her on their screens.
But, not everyone is quite so familiar with the "Karma" singer. Travis Kelce's dad, Ed Kelce, reveals that the first time he met Taylor Swift, he actually didn't even know her name!
While speaking to 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, he recalled a time early in Taylor and Travis' relationship in which he spotted Taylor in a group of Travis' friends at his house. Ed Kelce says he turned to his girlfriend, Maureen, to point Taylor Swift out of the crowd and say he recognized her but had no idea what her name was.
"And she says, 'You don't know her?" Ed told the radio show, "'This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.'"
Luckily, it seems like now that Ed Kelce has gotten to know Taylor a little better, he's a big fan and he's gotten past this smoothly. And in true family fashion, Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason, have made jokes about the fact that their dad has become such a big Swiftie since he got to know her.
On their New Heights podcast, the two of them joked around about the fact that Taylor was spotted deep in conversation with their dad during a game.
After joking around about how much their dad loves to talk, Jason Kelce shared that he's started listening to Taylor Swift's music more and told a story about their dad's listening habits by saying, "Bless his heart. He said, 'Now I've taken all of your CDs out at the local library, and I've burned them onto my computer.'"
Even though they were off to a strange start, it's easy to see why Ed Kelce is such a big fan of Taylor Swift now. Plus, the fact that they had such a relatable meeting the parents moment is so cute and relatable to so many Swifties.
