Steve Burton of General Hospital has finalized his divorce after nearly two years
General Hospital's Steve Burton is officially divorced from Sheree Gustin.
According to TMZ, a judge has officially signed off on the divorce of Gustin and Burton after nearly two years. And as part of the agreement with the courts, the former couple will be sharing custody of their two children, Brooklyn and Jack (they have a third child together, Makena, as well).
In documents that were obtained by TMZ, it was revealed that Steve Burton will have to pay his ex $12,500 per month until the end of March 2024, before that amount drops to $10,000 per month. The reason for that $2,500 per month decrease is because March is when their oldest child, Jack, turns 18. Considering their youngest child, Brooklyn is just nine years old, the former General Hospital actor will be paying child support for quite some time to come.
On top of the child support, there is another payment that will be made to Gustin, although both parties have agreed to waive spousal support. Instead, it seems as if Burton will be paying his ex $50,000 by way of monthly payments of $2,500. And considering that is the amount that will be going away once their son hits 18, it does make up for that difference (at least for a while).
Steve Burton originally filed for divorce from Sheree Gustin after 23 years of marriage back in 2022. At the time, he announced that his wife was pregnant with a child that was not his. It was quite the drama at the time. And while the couple's separation slowly faded from the news, it definitely seemed to be a cause for shock at the time.
Now with their divorce officially finalized, we can only hope that both Gustin and Burton will be able to move on with their lives, while also doing their best to get along for all three of their children's sake.
We hate to see such a long relationship fall apart, but considering the fact that Gustin was apparently pregnant with someone else's child when their separation was announced, and that she is currently pregnant with her fifth child, we can only imagine that this was in all of their best interest.
