No, it doesn't look like Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter are going to the Golden Globes together despite rumors

Romance rumors began for Academy Award-nominated actor Barry Keoghan and pop singer Sabrina Carpenter at the end of 2023 after the two celebs were photographed going out to dinner together in Los Angeles, but are they ready to make their red carpet debut as a couple? Well, despite reports, we don't see that happening at tonight's Golden Globes. Sorry to disappoint those shipping the pair!

The rumors of this relationship debut began this weekend when UK gossip sites the Daily Mail and The Sun published reports claiming Keoghan would be bringing Carpenter as his date to the 81st Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024. Keoghan is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role as Oliver Quick in Emerald Fennell's Saltburn. According to the publication, Keoghan apparently gave his ex-girlfriend Alyson a heads-up prior to the ceremony, with a source telling The Sun:

"Barry thought it was best that Alyson was the first to know about him and Sabrina so she wouldn't be hurt if she found out on social media. He is spending a lot of time in the States and has invited Sabrina to be his 'plus one' at the Golden Globes. Alyson and Barry still communicate for the sake of [their son] Brando and he has been open about his new relationship."

Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter probably won't be making a red carpet debut tonight

Despite this anonymous source dishing to the site, however, we don't believe the "Feather" singer will be joining the Golden Globe nominee at the show tonight. The biggest reason is that Carpenter posted a video to her Instagram Story today that proves she's somewhere snowy. The Golden Globes, of course, take place in Los Angeles. The fan account @charts_sabrina on X (formerly known as Twitter) was quick to share a screenshot of Carpenter's IG Story, debunking the rumor by writing: "New York seems a bit far from Los Angeles..." The account also speculated that Carpenter shared the video from her home studio in New York.

Regardless of her exact location, there's no doubt Carpenter shared the video from the East Coast as there's very clear snow falling outside the window. You can't really tell in the screenshot below, but you can see if you watch the clip on her Instagram Story. It snowed in New York City last night and today; I can confirm from living here myself.

Of course, there's always the chance that Carpenter shared an old video to her Instagram Story to keep her appearance at the Golden Globes a secret. However, that seems unlikely. It's possible she saw all of the rumors and chose to quietly debunk them herself by sharing the wintery video. We don't have long to know for sure, with the Golden Globes red carpet beginning around 6:00 p.m. ET and the show starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Keoghan stepping out with Carpenter at the Golden Globes wouldn't be the first time the actor made a relationship debut on a red carpet. He and his ex-girlfriend memorably attended the premiere of Eternals together in 2021. As for Carpenter, she was most recently rumored to be dating David Dobrik, which she seemingly debunked, as well as Shawn Mendes, which he denied. The singer seems to be more private with her dating life.

At the time of this writing, Keoghan and Carpenter have only been photographed together on one occasion, so whether the two are boyfriend-girlfriend or only went out on one date is unknown. Perhaps their relationship will be publicly defined for us at some point, but don't expect it to be this evening.
