The Hating Game star Lucy Hale celebrated two years of being sober right after entering a new year. In a recent Instagram post, Hale went back into the days she was addicted, calling being sober the ‘greatest gift’. The Truth or Dare star has opened up about her addiction and journey to sobriety multiple times in the past. In her Instagram post, she also motivated everyone going through addiction, encouraging them to take a step towards being sober.

“This continues to be the greatest gift I’ve given myself. I remain so grateful for another year of growth, growing pains, lessons, joys, and self realizations. To be able to show up as myself and to be greeted with such warmth and acceptance is something I do not take for granted”, she wrote.

She also added, “Lastly, if you are struggling please know you are not alone and that you do not have to trek this path alone. There is no right or wrong way to heal and it is deeply personal and unique to each of us. My only advice is to remain open hearted, curious, and to find the people who see and support you. It does get better. Take it moment by moment.”

Hale added a photo featuring the years, months, days, and hours she has been sober, followed by a quote from Scott Fitzgerald. While fans congratulated the Pretty Little Liars star for the achievement, some also remembered the late Matthew Perry, who spent most of his life helping people get sober.

Lucy Hale had a tough battle with addiction

Getting sober isn’t a piece of cake for anyone. The same went for Lucy Hale. In an appearance on the Steven Barlett podcast, Hale revealed how hard it was for her to put an end to her addiction and write a new chapter in her life. During the podcast appearance, Hale revealed she had been trying to get sober since she was 20.

After spending more than a decade battling with addiction, Hale found a new version of herself. During her comments on the podcast, the Truth or Dare star addressed herself as “textbook binge drinker, blackout, wouldn't remember what I did or what I said, which is scary.”

Lucy Hale’ upcoming movie, Which Brings Me To You, is set to hit the theatres on January 19. Having a classic Rom-Com plot, the movie features Hale along with Nat Wolff who meet at a wedding, which marks the beginning of a wonderful tale of love.
