Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet met and started dating in 2005 before officially tying the knot in 2017. Unfortunately for the famous pair, things didn't work out and they announced in January 2022 that they were breaking up.

Now, two years after initially announcing their split, Lisa Bonet has filed for divorce from the Aquaman star.

Jason Momoa had a celebrity crush on Lisa Bonet before they started dating

While most people have celebrity crushes, not a lot of people realize that celebrities often have them, too. According to Jason Momoa, his celebrity crush when he was a child was none other than Lisa Bonet who he saw on The Cosby Show when he was young.

According to the Game of Thrones alum, he didn't reveal his childhood crush on her until after the pair had been dating for a while and had two kids together, but he laughed about the fact that it truly was love at first sight for him on The James Corden Show in 2017.

Even though the two didn't get married until 2017, it was originally rumored that the pair had been married in 2007, two years into their relationship. According to reports, the pair had a private ceremony in 2017 with a star-studded guest list, including Bonet's daughter, Zoe Kravitz.

They have two children together

Lisa Bonet, 56, is the mother to actress Zoe Kravitz from her previous relationship with musician Lenny Kravitz while Jason Momoa, 44, has not been married previously. The two have two children together: a daughter named Lola Iolani, born in 2007, and a son named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, born a year later in December 2008.

According to reports about their divorce, Lisa Bonet has requested a joint custody agreement and has not requested any child support from either side in regards to their children.

They broke up in a joint statement released together

After nearly five years of marriage, Momoa released their joint statement on his Instagram account announcing their breakup. In the statement, the pair cited the difficult changes in society as the reason that their marriage has come to and end. "We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception," the statement reads.

"We share this not because we think it's newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty," he said in the statement about why the pair had chosen to publicly announce that they were going their separate ways.

"Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life our children. Teaching our children what's possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail," the statement ends.

Although they announced their breakup in 2022, the divorce documents state that the pair had split in 2020, meaning that the divorce filing from Lisa Bonet is four years in the making. It's unclear why the pair have taken so much time with their divorce, but they've agreed on how to split their assets and chosen to co-parent with a joint custody statement over their two children, so it seems like this divorce has been a clean split for both celebrities.
