Kathy Griffin files for divorce just shy of her fourth wedding anniversary
It's a sad day for comedian Kathy Griffin! Ahead of her fourth wedding anniversary, it seems as if the actress and comedian has filed for divorce from Randy Bick.
According to USA Today, the news of the surprising separation was first broken by TMZ, but it did not take long for Griffin to head to social media to simply post "this sucks." The news is especially shocking when you consider that the divorce news comes just four days before the couple would have celebrated four years of marriage.
Kathy Griffin and Randy Bick began dating back in 2011, but actually broke up in November of 2018. However, that separation did not last long, as they were back together by the time spring of 2019 rolled around. The couple then tied the knot on New Year's Day 2020, with actress Lily Tomlin acting as the officiant.
Kathy Griffin files for divorce from husband of almost four years
In the divorce papers that TMZ was able to access, the reason for their separation is listed as "irreconcilable differences," and the couple apparently split as of December 22, just before Christmas. Considering how often irreconcilable differences if often listed as a reason for separation, this is not as much of a surprise as one might think. We just don't know exactly what happened to get to this point for the couple.
Honestly, this news comes as a bit of a surprise considering how long they have been together. However, it does sound like there may have been some issues between the two, as the divorce filing apparently includes a request of the courts that they, "enforce premarital agreement dated 12/23/2019."
It has certainly been a difficult few years for Kathy Griffin, including a diagnosis of PTSD, as well as a lung cancer diagnosis that came in 2021. So we are sad to see her ending 2023 on a low note. And yet, we can't help but hope that she is able to start fresh in 2024.
