Cher explains why she doesn't date men her own age

Cher has been in a relationship with Alexander “AE” Edwards for a while now. And while there have been critics who have shared plenty of thoughts about the 39 year age difference between the couple, that doesn't mean anything to the legendary singer.

So why isn't Cher dating a man closer to her own age of 77? Well according to Entertainment Weekly, the reason she is not trying to date anyone her own age is because "they're all dead."

During a chat with Jennifer Hudson on her talk show, Cher explained her dating life and why she is dating a younger man (and of course why she has dated younger men in the past too).

"The reason I got with young men is because men my age or older — well, now they’re all dead. Before, [men my age] just never, they were always terrified to approach me, and younger men were the only ones that —"

However, she didn't really get to complete her thought because Hudson pointed out that the younger men are "bold." And this seemed to move the conversation forward.

So what led to this conversation about who Cher dates and why she is with a younger man? Well, apparently the singer revealed that she actually turned down Elvis Presley. She explained that the reason she said no was because she was "nervous," as well as the fact that she knew the people around him at the time as well.

What really surprised us about this discussion around dating and relationships was the reveal that Cher is actually shy. She explained that when she is not actively working, her persona is much different from what we see on stage. And even with work, she has had to deal with nerves, particularly when it comes to acting.

Whatever the reason that Cher prefers dating younger men, we have to appreciate the fact that her relationship with Edwards has lasted for nearly two years at this point. And here's us hoping that they can make it even longer, as they seem to be in love with each other.
