Candiace Dillard Bassett is saying goodbye to The Real Housewives of Potomac
Season 8 of The Real Housewives of Potomac has come to an end and with it comes some shocking news. Candiace Dillard Bassett is saying goodbye. That's right, after six years as a RHOP housewife, Candiace is leaving the series.
The fact that this news comes after a season where no one could get along, Candiace had issues with Robyn and Gizelle, and she has been pushing forward with her music career, makes a lot of sense. But perhaps what is surprising is the fact that the news came even before the reunion could air. Basically, Candiace Dillard Bassett is letting it be known that she is done and while there are clearly no hard feelings from the now-former housewife, it was simply time for her to move on with her life.
According to Reality Tea, in her statement about leaving the series, Candiace made it clear that this was her decision and not one that came from Bravo. Not only that, but she seemed to be in a very positive frame of mind when explaining her decision to step away from the franchise.
Candiace Dillard Bassett weighs in on her exit from RHOP
While Candiace did leave the door open for a potential return to RHOP in the future, this is what she had to say about her decision to exit the show (at least for now):
"As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey. With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP."

This statement leaves the door wide open for Candiace to change her mind and make a comeback if Bravo wants her back. And it certainly sounds like she has a real appreciation for her time on the show and what it has provided for her.
It is actually sad to see Candiace leaving the series as she has brought so much to the franchise. Of course, she was often a big part of the drama we saw on screen, but that is a big reason why we loved her. She knew how to draw us in and keep us entertained. Plus, we loved watching her and her husband navigate their life and relationships together.
I am definitely hoping to see more of Candiace Dillard Bassett in the future and truly hope that this exit from RHOP is not permanent.
Are you surprised by this news? Do you think this is a good thing or a bad thing for RHOP?
