Ariana Grande released her first song in three years, a catchy pop hit called "yes, and?" with lyrics that seem to be a response to the controversy surrounding her relationship with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.

While the song and the lyrics that feature Grande brushing off the rumors surrounding their relationship have received mostly positive reviews from critics, it seems like fans aren't quite so happy with the release. Following the release of her song, Ariana Grande's follower count has dropped by a staggering 350k as fans have mixed reactions to the lyrical content of the song.

The bridge in particular has garnered attention from people online. In the track, she sings, "Your business is yours and mine is mine/Why do you care so much whose **** I ride?/Why?"

Fans have mixed feelings about the lyrics. While some appreciate the title's nod to the theater world, other fans think that Ariana so casually brushing off criticism for the relationship she's in with Ethan Slater is insensitive.

Although sources close to both Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have claimed that the two of them didn't link up romantically until after both of their respective marriages were over, when the two of them were linked together in July 2023, fans were suspicious of their romantic timeline and were suspicious that the "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored" singer had gotten involved with a married man.

To fuel the speculation, Ethan Slater's ex-wife spoke to Page Six and said that Ariana Grande is "not a girl's girl" and called her family "collateral damage" to Ariana's major tabloid moment.

Unfortunately for Ariana, while some of her fans love that she's not taking the critics to heart, other fans have spoken up with some serious critiques about the song. Fans responded to the lyrics with references to Ethan Slater's ex-wife and even called the singer embarrassing.

Since the release of the song, Ariana Grande's instagram has lost over 350,000 followers. Although Ariana might not be taking the criticism to heart, it's obvious that she doesn't have her whole fanbase on her side.
