RHONJ’s Jennifer Fessler opened up about recent health scare
By Lacey Womack
RHONJ‘s Jennifer Fessler is the latest celebrity to jump on the weight loss drug train, admitting on the first episode of Two Jersey Js with Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Fessler that she’s started taking semaglutide (also sold under brand names Ozempic and Wegovy), an injection medication that was originally formulated for type 2 diabetes but has become all the rage among celebrities for weight loss. Unfortunately, the Real Housewives star admits that she’s had a “not good” experience with the drug and opened up about her side effects — and whether or not she’s going to continue taking it.
Jennifer Fessler is usually a “major hypochondriac”
On her podcast with fellow New Jersey Real Housewives star, Jennifer Fessler discussed the fact that she’s normally a “major hypochondriac,” but says that all goes out the window if it’s about her physical appearance, which is why she was feeling a little lax with her health in regards to this new prescription.
On the podcast, Fessler said that she had a “not good” experience with the drug and said candidly, “I had to go to the hospital for an impacted bowel.”
Although she chalks the health scare up to a side effect of the drug, she also admits that her own behavior might have been partially responsible. In addition to the fact that she admits she wasn’t drinking enough water or eating healthy while taking the medication, she says that she neglected to seek medical treatment right away when she realize she wasn’t “going” enough:
"I was drinking no water, eating no vegetables. Cause something that happens, a new experience for me, is being able to eat what I want even when it’s not the most healthy choices and still lose weight. So maybe for the first time in my life, I’m losing weight on pizza and bagels and ice cream. Having said that, I noticed there was constipation, I didn’t do anything about it. I wasn’t taking Miralax, that you take every morning, or any kind of stool softener."
Will Jennifer Fessler be getting off the Ozempic train?
Even though her experience hasn’t been perfect, Jennifer Fessler says she won’t be stopping her semaglutide journey. “Am I worried about it? No. Am I aware of it and a little disappointed in myself for not addressing it sooner? Sure,” she admitted when she explained her plans for the future with the drug.
Hopefully, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star pays more attention to what’s going into and coming out of her body from now on and doesn’t ignore any more concerning side effects.
