When Sister Wives started airing on TLC in 2010, Kody Brown only had three wives: Meri, Janelle, and Christine, but the early episodes of the series documented his budding courtship with a potential forth wife, Robyn. As viewers of the series are aware, as the series went on, Kody Brown did marry Robyn and since then, the family has started to fall apart with divorces, affairs, and all kinds of drama for viewers to watch unfold on their TV screens, in the tabloids, and on social media.

Robyn is the only one of the wives left married to Kody with the last remaining wife, Meri, having chosen to end her relationship with Kody in January 2023. Meri was Kody’s first wife, having married him in 1990 and later divorcing him legally so that Kody could mary Robyn and legally adopt the children she brought into their marriage. After an affair scandal and the other two original wives leaving Kody, Meri announced that she and Kody had also decided to end their relationship.

Fans spectate about Robyn and Kody Brown’s relationship

Since the early days of Robyn appearing on Sister Wives, there has been speculation among the fans about whether or not Kody Brown had equal feelings for all of his wives. This was a point of contention at points on the show and fans definitely felt like Kody was giving special treatment to his latest wife.

Now, Kody Brown has come out and explicitly stated that he “never fell in love” with any of his past wives, only with Robyn.

In the Sister Wives: One on One special that aired on November 26, he confirmed what many fans have been speculating since early in his marriage to Robyn when he said, “I fell in love with Robyn. I never fell in love with anybody else. I was just choosing to be in that covenant of love with them.”

According to Robyn, she wasn’t aware that Kody had such strong feelings for her that he didn’t have for his other wives. In the special, Robyn spoke about her own experience with falling in love with Kody and the relationship they had while he was still married to three other women:

"I did my best. I don’t know what else I was supposed to do. But I did my best to not have it be something that was painful for them. I constantly was suppressing and hiding my relationship and any kind of connection I had with Kody."

Meri, Kody Brown’s first wife and the last wife to have left their relationship, gave her thoughts on Kody having found true love in Robyn. She said that she’s “glad” that he has that, but her feelings on their marriage aren’t all positive. Meri added, “I think it’s very unfortunate that the rest of the family had to go by the wayside to get that.”

Christine, the first of the wives to have left her relationship with Kody, was re-married in October 2023 and her wedding will reportedly be a two-episode special in the Sister Wives series. It will be interesting to see how her wedding goes over with Kody and Robyn, especially with Kody having called Christine a “bad” sister wife during their marriage.
