It hasn’t all been smooth sailing on season 8 of Below Deck Mediterranean, especially for Kyle Viljoen and Natalya Scudder. This season began airing in September 2023, but was filmed about a year prior to when it started airing on Bravo TV, meaning that there’s been a lot of time beetween what we’re seeing on TV and when it happened for the crew members.
One of the most explosive moments on the season so far was the fight that broke out between Natalya Scudder and Kyle Viljoen, a fight that ultimately led to Natalya choosing to leave the Mustique and that left viewers wondering about Kyle’s standing on the season.
Below Deck Mediterranean’s major cast shakeup
Viewers saw Captain Sandy make the decision to keep Kyle aboard and the midseason trailer for the rest of the season showed Natalya returning to stir up drama, so viewers can rest assured that the drama between these two crew members isn’t slowing down any time soon.
But in real life, it seems like the tide may have turned for Kyle and Natalya.
Kyle Viljoen says “time heals most wounds”
While this season of Below Deck Med has featured some intense drama that seemed like it was tearing apart any possible future friendships between the crew members, it seems like things have smoothed over in the year that has passed since their time on the Mustique has passed.
Being on reality TV and working on a yacht can definitely exacerbate anyone’s personal issues and in the caption of an Instagram photo with Natalya that Kyle posted after the season 8 episode 10 aired, Kyle acknowledged that the two of them were going through a lot during the season, writing:
"We both realized we were going through the thick of it at the time the season started a year ago, especially within our personal lives but were so glad that we have each other to rely on, now more than ever."
This is a major change from what was happening on season 8 of Below Deck Mediterranean where Natalya left to prioritize her mental health following a huge fight, leading to Captain Sandy saying that she would “never find anyone who is as excellent” as Natalya.
“We’re happy to be back together and hopeful that the positive, crazy and outrageously great times are ahead,” Kyle captioned his selfie with his Below Deck Mediterranean co-star. Hopefully Captain Sandy was wrong to call Kyle a bully and the two of them can stay on good terms.
