The truth about Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart’s breakup

Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse took to Call Her Daddy to open up about his life, growing up as a child star of Disney Channel, and his relationship history. While fans on social media were quick to judge Cole for smoking a cigarette indoors in the interview preview, they were still very interested to hear from an actor they grew up watching.

The topic that a majority of fans were itching to hear about was Sprouse’s break up with Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. The former couple went public with their relationship in 2018 and ended it back in 2020. Many fans of the show were devasted over the split of their two favorite characters in real life, which created an even more difficult situation for the pair. Dealing with mourning the end of your own relationship while others are also very upset about it is very difficult.

Cole tells Alexandra Cooper how working with Reinhart after the break up was “really hard” for both parties, mentioning that “it was hard to suspend all of the ways we felt about each other and that it didn’t give us the luxury of distance”. Working with an ex would be hard in general, let alone continuing to play love interests on the show.

While speaking about a breakup that happened 3 years seems like it could bring up bad feelings, Cole also goes into detail about how the two are actually good friends now and have no trouble working together. He also explains how they went through a lot together and that he was grateful for the relationship.

The speculation surrounding the breakup back in 2020 has proven to be incorrect, as Cole explains how not being overly public about their split lead to people theorizing about what happened. When media did not know the couple had split and Cole was seen out with other women, fans were very upset.

Being able to openly talk about the situation now has hopefully cleared the air for all of the rumors. It is great for Riverdale fans to hear that the two have been able to move forward and continue a positive working friendship. Cole also discloses that he is very happy in his current relationship.
