Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show was bad and that’s okay

Why didn’t Rihanna have any musical guests?

Don’t get me wrong, musical guest appearances can be weird — just look at when Slash rose onto the stage during the Black Eyed Peas’ performance. Fergie sort of just walked around him and sang while he played guitar and it was bizarre. But it was still entertaining.

If Rihanna was too pregnant to perform a visually entertaining show, why didn’t she bring on a musical guest to carry the performance physically?

Once again, I’ll point to the Black Eyed Peas. I am only referencing this performance so much because while the music was absolutely terrible, they managed to create an entertaining, memorable show — for better or worse.

For example, while their show was very modern, robotic, and electronic, they brought on Slash to involve the older audience of the Super Bowl. Then, they brought back the energy by bringing Usher onto the stage, who would bring back the energy by jumping down a flight of stairs and landing in the splits.

And while Rihanna’s music was much, much better, she was distinctly lip-syncing and the visuals of the show were not on par with what we’ve become accustomed to in recent years.

Props to Rihanna for performing while she was pregnant — I imagine that is an extremely difficult (and stressful) thing to prepare for under the circumstances. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very entertained.

By the way, here’s the link to that tier list — there are two parts, so make sure to look for both.
