Yes, you read that right. YouTube star Shane Dawson is back and has released the first part of his new documentary series, The Cancelled World of  Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson. The two internet celebrities have been through their own controversies over the past couple of years, making this new series a  serious attention grabber.

Throughout the video, the timeline jumps back and forth from the current time period to back in 2020, during the creation of Shane and Jeffree’s second makeup palette. It starts off with Shane having a casual conversation with his new cameraman, Chris (whose voice ironically sounds a lot like Andrew, Shane’s old cameraman). The two plan on going through a day in the life of Shane while he answers questions about himself that he would normally ask the subject of his documentary.

Some housekeeping topics are covered before Shane really gets into the future of the series. While this might now be news if you have been keeping up with Shane and Ryland on social media, it is still important to mention. The couple has moved to Colorado, adopted a new puppy, and is in the process of having a child via surrogate. The journey of the child process is documented on Ryland’s channel, although they have mentioned they will be keeping their child very private once born.

This includes showing different shades in the lab, as well as addressing rumors that the ‘Conspiracy Palette’ was a money grab. Shane expresses how he is genuinely interested in makeup, the business side of things, and how passionate he was about the project. He admits that he “overhyped the money element because it was fascinating” and that he “did not make anywhere near what people think I made”.

Towards the end, the jumping timelines start to come together. Cameraman Chris inquires about the second palette, sparking an idea. While this was never released or finalized, the shades were still created. Shane quickly texts Jeffree asking if he would be allowed to show the unfinished project to the internet, to which Jeffree immediately agrees to doing.

Shane emphasizes that this wasn’t planned, noting all the coincidences leading up to this moment. Chris casually asking about his friendship with Jeffree, his mother in law talking about the ‘money grab’  scandal, and Shane mentioning that he even ripped his pants in the beginning of his last series with Jeffree (which somehow happened again at the start of this video). While the coincidences are unignorable, Shane expresses that, “This video started off as a joke and now we are here”.

The first part of the series then ends, leaving viewers with the burning question: will this mystery palette ever be released to the public? Stay tuned to find out.
