In 2022, celebrities embarking on new ventures besides the industry that made them rich and famous is nothing strange. Every day, the press is filled with the announcement of celebrity-backed brands and products.

However, while most entertainers consider those enterprises a side gig, others have entirely shifted their gears. In fact, some celebrities have put showbiz on the back burner to focus on their business ventures.

Here are five female celebrities who ditched Tinseltown for Wall Street.

A decade ago, Gwyneth Paltrow’s name would evoke a successful acting career, an Academy Award, and high-profile relationships with actors (Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck) and musicians (Chris Martin). Today, Gwyneth’s name is associated with her ever-expanding wellness and lifestyle empire, Goop.

The actress-turned lifestyle guru created Goop as a newsletter back in 2008. Since then, the company has grown significantly to encompass a range of affiliate brands under the Goop umbrella. From makeup (Goop x Juice Beauty), fashion (G.label), home décor, and supplements (Goop Wellness) to fitness programs, nothing is off-limits for Paltrow’s company.

Moreover, the enterprise launched its documentary series on Netflix called The Goop Lab and a podcast with Oprah Winfrey as the first guest. Nevertheless, Goop’s rise has been marred with controversy and criticism about its product recommendations. In addition, many see the company as promoting pseudoscience and snake oil.

Yet, it hasn’t stopped Goop from growing and attracting legitimate investments. Ten years after its inception, the company was valued at $250 billion. We can’t blame Gwyneth for ditching her day job for that price.

Furthermore, Gwyneth did so well with Goop that other celebrities followed in her footsteps.
