Fashion icon and former Disney queen Ashley Tisdale joked about wanting to attend a future Met Gala to honor her past red carpet looks, and you know what… they should let her!

Tisdale, who rose to fame in the mid-2000s on the Disney Channel hits The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and the High School Musical franchise, has become synonymous with her oh-so nostalgic Y2K red carpet fashion, and it seems she’s looking to revive those style choices.

In a tweet on Monday, May 2, 2022, the day of the Met Gala, Ashley Tisdale said, “If I ever get invited to the #MetGala I would replicate one of my past iconic looks…” and shared four visual aids at the very “iconic looks” she’s referring to. And they are iconic.

Considering the 2022 Met Gala theme is Gilded Glamour and “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” Tisdale’s 2000s getups probably wouldn’t fit in with the dress code. But the actress-singer-producer made an excellent case for her future attendance.

Let Ashley Tisdale go to the Met Gala!

Since the Met Gala is the perfect place for our most stylish celebrities to lean heavily into camp (just look at any of Katy Perry’s Met Gala looks from the past five years), who wouldn’t want to see Ashley Tisdale on the red carpet rocking Uggs, a feather boa, and a kitschy handbag?

Over the years, fans have lovingly celebrated Tisdale’s colorful wardrobe from yesteryear, which included skirts over denim, tanks over t-shirts, high socks and boots, tight neck scarves, and a Hello Kitty eye mask (which, in her defense, seemed to fit The Princess Diaries 2 premiere theme).

Clearly, Ashley Tisdale knows how to stick to and commit to a theme when it comes to fashion, and we can’t think of a better way to further the current Y2K throwback trend than for the erstwhile Sharpay Evans to show up at the Met in a camo skirt and drop jaws

If there’s ever a Met Gala theme that involves some sort of ode to 2005, the one person that better be on the guest list that year is Ashley Tisdale. Send her an invite, let her co-chair the festivities, give our millennial fashion queen the spotlight she deserves. We love you, Ashley!
