Though Courteney Cox looks great, the Friends alum has had her fair share of struggles concerning her age and the body changes that come with getting older.

In an interview with Sunday Times Style, the 57-year-old actress opened up about her aging insecurities, reflecting on what she’s learned thus far in her fight to stay youthful despite being much older than she was when the beloved American sitcom first aired in 1994.

After toiling it over, Courteney Cox learned (and embraced) to simply let aging happen, hence why one of her greatest regrets can be found in what she did to prevent nature from taking its course.

Courteney Cox regrets her cosmetic procedures

CNN reports that Courteney Cox doesn’t think too fondly of getting cosmetic injections to “chase after youthfulness,” especially because the injections made her face look much different than before.

“There was a time when you go, ‘Oh, I’m changing. I’m looking older,’” Courteney told the Sunday Times. “And I tried to chase that [youthfulness] for years. And I didn’t realize that, oh s**t, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now.”

Courteney says altering her beauty is one of the many things she’s given up on in her journey to accepting her age. In addition to this, the most important thing she’s refusing to carry with her on this new journey is the media’s harsh response to actors’ youthfulness fading over time, something that, in turn, caused her to be super hard on herself.

“The scrutiny is intense, but I don’t know if it could be more intense than what I put on myself,” Courteney revealed.

With this new perspective, Courteney believes she is more “grounded” than ever before and has truly begun cherishing the small joys that come with letting go of her fear of looking and getting older.

“There’s nothing wrong with being 60, I just can’t believe it. Time goes so fast,” Courteney expressed. “There’s no question that I am more grounded, I’ve learnt so much in my life – what to enjoy, what to try to do more of and what to let go of.” Naturally, this is music to our ears.

As Courteney Cox continues to overcome her aging insecurities, we hope that her words inspire even more celebrities to embrace their changes.
