Say it ain’t so! Friends actor Matt LeBlanc and girlfriend Aurora Mulligan have called it quits.

The two got together back in 2016 when they met on the set of the long-running British series Top Gear. Though they had a fairly large age difference, being nearly 15 years apart, their relationship was full of nothing but love–up until now.

Why did Matt LeBlanc and Aurora Mulligan break up?

The Daily Mail reports, unbeknownst to fans, Matt LeBlanc and Aurora Mulligan actually broke up in 2020 after the two simply couldn’t find a way to make the relationship work.

“Matt and Aurora’s relationship has run its course,” a source revealed. “It’s all over. It’s a huge shame and Matt has taken the news particularly hard, as anyone would.”

Understandably, the split didn’t happen overnight. Sources close to the celebrities note that the beginning of the end started following Matt’s departure from Top Gear. Him leaving caused a major rift in the relationship as the two often found themselves in two completely different continents. Matt spent most of his time back in the States as he sought after new opportunities while Aurora stayed in her United Kingdom workplace.

In the end, long distance proved to be too much of a burden for the two to carry so the couple decided to go their separate ways a mere two years after Matt bowed out of Top Gear in 2018.

Following their breakup, the couple stayed fairly silent on the matter, hence why the public wasn’t informed about their split until now. Why this was the case isn’t known at the time but it can be assumed that Matt and Aurora wanted to keep things private as they both navigated a new chapter without the other.

We will await a response from Matt LeBlanc regarding the breakup but until then, we wish Matt and Aurora all the best.
