Kelly Ripa celebrates ‘downward dog’ day in yoga pants

Kelly Ripa has put a whole new twist on the “downward dog.” The 51-year-old daytime TV show host is known for featuring dogs Chewie and Lena on social media, and it was a trio deal with her pooches as Kelly made a pun on the yoga move “downward dog” recently. Posting for her 3 million Instagram followers, the former sitcom star showed off her ageless looks and sense of fun, with the snap perfectly captioned.

With Kelly and Ryan star casually kneeling on a bright green mat while traveling in Michigan – Kelly briefly hit up the Midwest in January as she temporarily ditched her $27 million NYC townhouse. The mom of three was accompanied by her four-legged friends as they chilled out next to her, with the shot showing her in a simple black pair of yoga pants, plus a gray workout top.

Laughing – and there was plenty to laugh at – Ripa took to her caption, writing: “Downward dog day” as she added a #dogsofinstagram. She also added hashtags for Lena and Chewie. Kelly has been raising Chewie for years, but Lena is a pandemic addition.

March 2021 marked the arrival of Lena, with Kelly telling viewers:

“The Consuelos’ have made a decision to adopt Lena.” Kelly added: “My whole fear was that I didn’t want Chewie to feel replaced in any way.” As to how Lena has been settling in with existing pooch Chewie, Kelly highlighted a moment where “Chewie was outside the [Lena’s] crate, sitting next to her with their noses together.” The star regularly features her pets on social media, an account also including 1996-married husband Mark Consuelos, plus the couple’s three kids Michael, Joaquin, and Lola.
