24-year-old Sydney Sweeney is opening up about her nude scenes on Euphoria.

Some fans have been feeling that the many nude scenes in the new season of the smash-hit HBO series are a tad bit out of place, seeing it as unnecessary for creator and writer Sam Levinson to show private body parts when conveying a simple story or thought.

Viewers have noticed that Sydney Sweeney is often the only one revealing her body in season 2 and feel it’s an injustice to the actress. However, as it turns out, she fortunately does have a say in the nudity of her character.

Sydney Sweeney nude scenes in Euphoria

Variety reports that Sydney Sweeney was particularly vocal when she had an issue with how Sam Levinson wrote her character, Cassie, and stated that she never faced any blowback from the Euphoria creator for wanting Cassie to have fewer nude scenes where she saw fit.

“There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here,'” Sydney Sweeney revealed. “He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it.’ I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”

Her positive take on Sam Levinson’s openness to change stands opposite to how she feels about previous experiences outside of Euphoria. Later on in the interview, she went on to state:

"I’ve had experiences where I want to go home and scrub myself completely raw because I feel disgusting. I didn’t feel comfortable with my castmate or the crew, and I just didn’t feel like my character would be doing it. That made me even more self-conscious. I didn’t feel like I was able to speak up."

In knowing that Sydney doesn’t feel the same way about Sam Levinson as she did with previous directors may come as a relief to fans. Mostly because it means that if there’s ever a time Sydney doesn’t feel comfortable in the Euphoria space, her feelings would be heard and acknowledged.

As Euphoria continues to air season 2, the actress asks fans to refrain from only focusing on her nudity and, instead, to focus on her stellar performance this season that’s going to blow their minds in due time. To that we say, will do, Sydney Sweeney.
