Rebel Wilson weight loss journey: Why her team didn’t want her losing weight
By Diana Nosa
A few years ago, Australian actress Rebel Wilson stated that she would undergo a vigorous health journey that she referred to as the “Year of Health.” The Pitch Perfect actress was certainly true to her word as she dropped nearly 80 pounds the same year and, to fans, looked visibly thinner.
Wilson embraced the world’s shock, revealing that she felt “super confident” about her body. But where she felt confident, it seems her team felt fear.
Why Rebel Wilson’s team didn’t want weight loss
Rebel Wilson revealed that her team questioned her choice to lose so much weight as she was widely known to the world as the actress who would typically play overweight characters whose size was often the butt of the joke. However, this was all the more reason why she wanted to begin her weight loss journey.
“I feel like I’m really going to physically transform and change my life,” Wilson said to her team at the time. “And they were like, ‘Why? Why would you want to do that?’ Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl and being that person.”
Her team didn’t want her unhealthy per se, rather they wanted to make sure her career wasn’t in jeopardy following the tremendous change. Nevertheless, their worries proved to be needless because not only is Rebel Wilson still bringing in the exorbitant checks but is, most importantly, healthier and happier than ever.
“I knew deep down inside that some of the emotional behaviors I was doing wasn’t healthy. I did not need a tub of ice cream every night,” Wilson expressed. “That was me numbing my emotions using food, which wasn’t the healthiest thing.”
To this very day, Rebel Wilson still remains transformed by her weight journey, and we hope that her team can rest assured in knowing that the Australian comedian that the world fell in love with back then is still the one they are in love with now, weight loss and all.
