Beloved comedian Bob Saget dead at 65

Beloved comedian and actor Bob Saget passed away on Jan. 9, 2022. The Full House and America’s Funniest Videos host was 65.

According to initial reports from TMZ, who was first to break the news, Saget passed away on Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida. While the late comedian’s cause of death is not yet clear, it is said Saget was pronounced dead on the scene after the Sheriff’s Department and local authorities responded to the call.

Saget is best known for his role as the Tanner family patriarch on ABC’s hit sitcom Full House, a role he played across the show’s eigh-season run and would later reprise in Netflix’s 2016 reboot Fuller House, appearing in the show’s five-season run which ended in 2020.

In addition to his role in Full and Fuller House, Saget was known for his comedy including his stint as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1989 to 1997. Most recently, Saget appeared as a contestant on season 4 of FOX’s The Masked Singer appearing as the character Squiggly Monster.

Saget’s other acting credits include roles in Entourage, Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd, How I Met Your Mother and Raising Dad. The late comedian was also known for his standup work and was actually in the midst of a comedy tour at the time of his passing.

Following Saget’s shocking death at the age of 65, Hollywood has taken to social media to celebrate Saget’s life and mourn his sudden passing. Among the many actors to remember the late comedian have been his Full House costars including actor John Stamos who has been left “gutted” and in “complete and utter shock” at the news of his friend and late costar’s passing.
