Kate Beckinsale is enjoying a very British 4th of July – it’s not her fault today is celebrating the U.S. gaining independence from Great Britain back in 1776. While half of celebrity Instagram rocks star-spangled bikinis to celebrate its largely American heritage, British actress Kate made it a U.K. affair as she marked the calendar date in a short shorts romper and with England’s favorite hot tea beverage. Kate, known for a sarcastic sense of humor on Instagram, busted out leggy moves with a gal pal, and her 4.7 million followers can’t get enough of the post.
Kate Beckinsale Makes 4th of July Her Own
See the video below. Kate resides in L.A., where a humorous video showed the Jolt star indoors and at a swish, marble-topped bar formed of sleek woods. The actress, known for her jaw-dropping body, was all legs as she and a friend sipped tea – leaning against the bar, Kate wore a belted patterned romper, seemingly unbothered as celebratory music played.
Then came a giant jig. Kate and her friend were seen putting down their teas and opting for jovial dancing – a caption, meanwhile, explained what was going on as Kate wrote: “What English people in America do on July 4.” A hybrid of emoji included both the U.S. and British flags.
Fans, who also seem to have spotted the gold high heels Kate bravely wore while dancing, are falling about laughing, as clearly evident by the sheer amount of cry-face emoji left in the comments section.
“I would’ve broke my ankle in those heels attempting that wee jig xxxx,” a fan replied. “Any excuse for a nice cuppa!” seemed to come from a British follower.
Of course, someone always has to come along and ruin things. “Oh the irony,” one fan replied, adding: “The disrespectful anti American sentiment irony.” See more photos after the video.
Keeping It British
Kate has made headlines for embracing her British heritage despite living in the U.S. Anyone following her Instagram may remember the British candy she devoured on her birthday last year, per The Blast. The actress has even jokingly referred to missing Great Britain’s famous baked beans. In 2013, she spoke to Women’s Health about feeling homesick, saying:
“I really started to feel it by Christmas. I was in an English shop in Santa Monica and started weeping over a tin of beans.”
Fans today even said they hoped it was “Yorkshire Tea” Kate was drinking. “Where’s the scones?” one asked.
