It’s officially over for Real Housewives of Dallas star Kary Brittingham and her husband of 12 years, Eduardo. During the shocking Real Housewives of Dallas Season 5 reunion, Kary tearfully admitted (virtually, since she wasn’t able to attend in-person because of a positive COVID test) that she and Eduardo had filed for divorce.

While fans didn’t find the news all that surprising given Kary’s excessive drinking and destructive behavior this past season, it’s the first official divorce news from the Dallas ladies. According to an exclusive source at Us Weekly, the news was surprising to those in her personal circle.

“Nobody knew it was coming. She kept it quiet the entire time, but it made sense once she told the women. When you see her drinking a lot this season, it’s her letting loose from her personal life,” said the source.

At the reunion, Kary admitted it had been a tough season for her and when host Andy Cohen asked her for an update on her marriage, Kary admitted that she and Eduardo had decided to get a divorce.

"“After the show finished, me and Eduardo had to have a real heart-to-heart talk and we decided we needed to go our separate ways. We just told our kids. Obviously, I’m really scared and I think I was definitely, you know, trying to mask what I was going through and I’m very ashamed of my behavior, my kids seeing that. I really regret it. I’m thankful to my girlfriends for pointing it out and it really made me take a closer look at what I was going through.”"

Real Housewives of Dallas: According to sources, Kary’s drinking this season was a result of her personal life

Not long after Kary confirmed the news of her divorce broke on the reunion airing, Kary’s daughter Sofia sent love to her mother via her Instagram. Kary took to her Instagram page to break the news after the reunion with a lengthy, emotional post about how she’s dealing with everything right now.

Several of Kary’s Real Housewives of Dallas co-stars commented to send her love in the wake of her announcement, including Stephanie Hollman and Kameron Westcott.

“Love you babe!! I’m here for you always!! Praying for your family!!” wrote Kameron.

“Love love you so much! You are strong, bold and beautiful. Sending love and prayers to you and your family sweet friend,” said Stephanie.

While it’s not yet clear if Kary is going to be back for the next season of Real Housewives of Dallas, I’m guessing if she is then her divorce is going to take center-stage as she navigates co-parenting with Eduardo.
