Real Housewives of Dallas Season 5 finale recap: Southfork Goes South
By Mads Lennon
It’s finally time for the Real Housewives of Dallas Season 5 reunion, “Southfork Goes South.” The RHOD Season 5 reunion is rather lackluster, all things considered, but this season wasn’t exactly top-notch as a whole. In the last episode of the season, we get to see what happens at Southfork as the women continue their murder mystery party.
RHOD Season 5, Episode 16 begins right where the previous episode left off as the women try to figure out who killed Brandi. No one really succeeds in figuring out the killer, and I don’t blame them. I did a murder mystery party once and when alcohol is involved –– that s*** is hard!
It turns out D’Andra was the killer all along and she gets to play up her role by holding everyone hostage at gunpoint and trying to flee, “killing” a few more partygoers in the process. It’s all very entertaining. At least it is until Kary ruins the moment by shoving D’Andra into the pool. What is her obsession with throwing fully clothed people into pools?
D’Andra plays it off like she’s not that upset, but she later confesses to Kameron that she wasn’t happy with Kary’s decision as she was wearing vintage shoes and a belt with sentimental value. Her entire outfit was worth about $3,000. D’Andra later confirmed on Watch What Happens Live that her shoes hadn’t recovered.
RHOD Season 5 finale recap: Kary and Brandi wreck J.R.’s bedroom
Later, that night, post-party, Kary and Brandi get drunker than everyone else and stay up until almost 4 a.m. They get into all their usual hijinks, including waking up the other women in the middle of the night and then trying to break into J.R.’s bedroom.
Brandi leads the charge, slipping past the plexiglass divider and climbing into the bed. When Kary can’t fit, she gets the bright idea to grab a nearby rocking horse and push it in front of the plexiglass. You can already see that something bad is going to happen before it goes awry. Kary breaks off half the glass divider and it collapses to the ground. The next day, Kary and Brandi are horrified to realize that they messed up the room, which is technically part of a museum.
At breakfast, the girls all confront Kary, specifically, about her bad habit of damaging other people’s property. From dumping salsa on the Airbnb bed to throwing D’Andra in the pool to breaking the plexiglass, Kary leaves a reign of chaos wherever she goes. As usual, Kary apologizes, but D’Andra notes that she’s starting to become like a broken record, while Tiffany wonders why they’re attacking Kary so much and not Brandi –– they were both involved, after all.
Kary says she’ll just try not to drink anymore when she’s with the women. “I don’t need to have drink to have fun.” She has her own issues going on though, as Eduardo calls to bail on the planned evening with all the other husbands. He claims he’s sick, but I’m not entirely sure I believe that. There are definitely some complicated things going on with Kary’s marriage.
RHOD Season 5 finale recap: The ladies wrap their stay at Southfork Ranch with their husbands
Otherwise, the rest of the night and episode goes off without a hitch and the ladies get all dressed up alongside their men to celebrate the legacy of Dallas. Plus, Brandi takes Stephanie aside to coo over their friendship and present her with a ring. Their friendship is sweet, I had to laugh when Stephanie said Brandi is more romantic than Travis because it’s kind of a pattern that Brandi is always treating Stephanie like a queen!
In the wrap-up, we learn that Kameron is still decorating her house with pink despite Court’s protests. Then there’s the big shocking news of Brandi finding out that she was actually 16 weeks pregnant while filming the series. She’s since given birth and it looks like they’ll discuss the alleged cheating scandal involving her husband at the reunion.
Stephanie continues giving locker room makeovers but does most of her work from home so Travis is renting out her office. Meanwhile, Tiffany and her mom are making baby steps in their relationship and she took her girls camping to look for Bigfoot in Oklahoma. She’s also fully enjoying living her life on her new work schedule. And D’Andra hasn’t kept in touch with her stepmother. Her brother still refuses to have a sit-down with her, but she is still seeing her shaman twice.
The RHOD Season 5 reunion starts next Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. on Bravo.
