RHONY: Carole Radziwill slammed on Twitter for her Colton Underwood comments
By Mads Lennon
Oof, another day another housewife getting involved in something she should probably keep quiet about. Former RHONY star Carole Radziwill, for some reason, decided that her opinion as a straight woman was valuable when discussing recent Bachelor Colton Underwood coming out as gay.
Carole offered Colton her congratulations for opening up about his sexuality but then claimed that it was weird that he went on a television show claiming to be looking for love while thinking he might be gay.
“It’s a great day for gay men, bad day for young women.”
Many people, especially those from the LGBTQIA+ group, were quick to jump to Colton’s defense and tell Carole it wasn’t her place to criticize him for what was likely years’ worth of struggle. Regardless, Carole didn’t back down and, in fact, her entire Twitter feed has mostly consisted of her arguing with people for the past three days.
What most people weren’t happy about is Carole’s seemingly black-and-white idea of sexuality when it’s impossible to vet someone or “out” them if they’re not ready. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea for Colton to go on the show but everyone is on their own personal journey and sometimes you don’t know who you are until much later in the game.
Former RHONY star Carole Radziwill criticizes reality tv as a whole
Even though some of Carole’s comments about Colton were off the mark, she did make some fair assessments about The Bachelor franchise and its innate misogyny, adding that she thinks it’s “the most misogynist show on TV.”
Funnily enough, one of the few tweets to make Carole reconsider her words was someone saying she sounded like her BFF-turned-enemy Bethenny Frankel.
What do you think about Carole’s comments regarding Colton Underwood? Should this RHONY star have just stayed out of it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
While Carole isn’t on RHONY anymore, the new season is starting up very soon, May 4 to be exact!
