Real Housewives of Orange County: Season 15 reunion recap
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of Orange County wrapped up the season 15 reunion last night and we are glad it’s over! On the same note, so is Sean Burke…if we had to guess. His wife, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, has dragged him through the mud and the press on her sobriety / LGBTQ journey, including last night’s reunion.
Braunwyn has been adamant that she has never been attracted to Sean and has never been attracted to men even though they have seven children together and have been married for 20 years. The point isn’t that they have been living a lie, but that Braunwyn won’t stop telling people about it. While Braunwyn has been off on her journey’s around the country, Sean has been home with their soccer team of children.
Emily Simpson made an interesting point that Braunwyn uses her victim mentality as an excuse for everything she does, as if her current struggles in life excuse her from everything.
“It’s not your job to be a role model right now,” Andy Cohen said. “You need to deal with yourself,” he continued. And he’s right! Braunwyn spends all of her time being the face of XYZ cause and putting all of her energy into that instead of just sitting down and working through her own issues.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 15 is over…but the drama with Braunwyn Windham-Burke has just started.
When they brought out Sean, the montage of Braunwyn’s lies about how much she loved and appreciated him was very awkward. They played the footage of Brauwnyn admitting that she hit him and that she felt trapped in her marriage. Sean just sat there and took it all. She also again noted that she was never attracted to Sean physically.
Brauwnyn said her friend Shari, who moved in with them during the pandemic, asked her to leave Sean to be with her. Brauwnyn declined this offer but found out that Sean was having a relationship of his own while she was hanging out with Shari. So it sounds like neither Brauwnyn nor Sean have any idea what’s happening in their lives, much like the audience.
Sean did note that he derived happiness from his children which is great since they have so many of them. If Sean says he’s happy, then I suppose we have to let that be.
At the end of the day, the reunion clarified a few things and left us with a lot of questions again. The rest of the ladies seemed to spend a lot of time figuring out the Burke marriage, so it seems appropriate to have much of the reunion dedicated to them. But still, what comes next for them?
The Real Housewives of Orange County will be back on Bravo later this year.
