Real Housewives of Potomac: Monique Samuels is done after 4 seasons
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of Potomac wrapped up season five last night at the reunion, and Monique Samuels announced she was walking away.
The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5 reunion part 3 was a doozy, but finally wrapped up some loose ends with the ladies. Monique Samuels and her binder were still a large part of the reunion, especially when it came to Candiace Dillard Bassett. Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, and Wendy Osefo stayed on team Candiace, while Ashley Darby remained on team Monique. Karen Huger mostly stayed mum on the situation.
Monique confirmed a few days ago that she received a contract for season six before announcing she was quitting on Instagram. It was definitely a power move because she wanted everyone to know that it was her decision to leave – not Bravo’s decision to have her leave. Candiace said she was not going to film with Monique if she returned, which would have been hard for group scenes.
Last night, Monique was using her platform to promote her new song titled “Drag Queens,” in addition to her new essential oils, Mila Eve Essentials. It seems like she has plenty to keep her busy in her post-housewives life. Even if you don’t like Monique on the show, she was doing a great job of being the villain in the scenario. She said in her Instagram live that her family was more important than the show so she was going to focus on them.
At some point, if you aren’t getting along with more than half of the cast, there isn’t much for the show to film. The group scenes and the group drama make up a lot of the footage we see on television, so it makes sense she would not want to return. It is unfortunate to see her walk away because it is likely they would have made up next season if the fight didn’t happen.
It was fun while it lasted but hopefully, next season will be a bit less violent. Candiace will have to do her best to not release a wine glass into anyone else’s face!
The Real Housewives of Potomac will be back next Sunday at 9 PM.
