Real Housewives of Potomac: Monique Samuels & her shady binder

The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion part one started last night and Monique Samuels started off with a bang and a binder full of receipts!

The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5 reunion is finally here, and these ladies got right into it.  Monique Samuels brought an entire binder with a tab for each lady and all of her receipts organized for easy reading.  This episode was mostly dedicated to Gizelle Bryant and her relationship with Jamal Bryant.  Monique had apparently been in contact with Jamal’s “real” girlfriend, who provided screenshots and other information to prove that Gizelle and Jamal’s relationship was being faked for the show.

Gizelle was asked to confirm that the number in the provided screenshots was actually Jamal’s number, which it was and she did.  Since we only got through the section for Gizelle, it isn’t clear yet who else Monique is going to come for.  If anyone is safe, Ashley Darby is probably it since she’s been on Monique’s side the whole time.  Gizelle was basically silent after that, which doesn’t exactly scream “innocent.”

Monique and Candiace Dillard Bassett mostly stayed away from each other during part one, but we know the drama is coming.  Andy Cohen put some heat on Candiace for her behavior on Twitter, which he didn’t seem to appreciate.  Candiace has a tendency to use say things that come off as anti-Black, which has brought the issue of colorism up.

Candiace had no way to defend her actions, like when she called Monique a roach and a bed-wench, but she’s also called people ghetto and hoodrat, too.  Candiace took no responsibility for her actions, as usual.  In case you missed it, a bench wench is a woman “whose specific function was to have sex with the plantation’s White owner, her master.”

Since we don’t know who will be back next year, it seems that Monique is going to leave no stone unturned.  She’s ready with her binder to take down anyone in her path.  And if she doesn’t come back next year, she will have made her peace with the entire situation.

Candiace obviously believes she is better than everyone out there, but Monique seems confident in her binder that she can take Candiace down.  She should be able to be confident in herself without cutting others down with disgusting anti-Black terminology.  Calling someone a bed wench is unforgivable, and I’d be happy if this was the last time Candiace was a part of this show.
