RHOSLC: Mary Cosby’s Met Gala formal daytime lunch

Mary Cosby set up an extravagant event on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but it made very little sense, much like everything in her life.

We expect nothing less from Mary Cosby at this point, but she sure took daytime events on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City to another level.  The luncheon was Met Gala themed and formal, but at 12:00 PM during a weekday.  “I’m not even sure Mary knows what the Met Gala really is,” Heather Gay said, “It just sounds fancy so she put it on the invitation!”  There was a red carpet, valet, fancy toy soldiers to open the doors, beta fish decor on the tables, and custom prayers from Mary.

Mary spent a lot of the brunch talking about how exclusive and expensive everything was.  Dana Wilkey and her $25,000 sunglasses can movie aside, Mary is here with truffles that cost $8,000 a pound.  Mary had custom notebooks made, custom pens, $1,200 Louis Vuitton headphones, exclusive 2003 Dom Perignon that was apparently harvested during a year when a lot of people died which made it better.  Classic Mary and her extravagant but very strange taste.  Just imagine, she’s running a church and is excited about all the death that made great champagne.

This is the first party we’ve seen Mary throw, so it isn’t clear if they are all like this, or if this is just extra special.  I like to think they are all like this, except we can assume this money is coming straight from her weird church congregation.  Praise the church for those sweet headphones!

The best part was that the restaurant definitely seemed closed save for this party.  I mean, who else would be dining at 12:00 in a five-star establishment?  Not to mention, Mary was fairly rude to her party planner and the rest of the staff.  “Do you guys know how to read?  Because the names were upside down.”  Didn’t love that.

In closing, this was by far one of the more bizarre Real Housewives events since Taylor Armstrong threw her daughter a $60,000 birthday party and spent most of the time posing for photos herself on the table.  We love a delusional housewife.
