Real Housewives of Orange County: Kelly Dodd’s Q score is plummeting

The Real Housewives of Orange County gathered for Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s vow renewal, but it was really a time for Kelly Dodd to complain.

It’s vow renewal time once again for The Real Housewives of Orange County, and Braunwyn Windham-Burke is the star of the show!  She and Sean Burke have decided to renew their vows for their 20 year anniversary because Braunwyn was pregnant for the first one and drunk for her 10-year ceremony.  Perhaps the third ceremonial time is the charm.  Production confirmed what we were all thinking when it showed a montage of vow renewals on RHOC that happened to be the precursor to divorce.  But don’t think Kelly Dodd is going to let her have all of the attention at this event.

Before we get into it…

A Q score is “The recognized industry standard for measuring consumer appeal of performers, brand ambassadors, influencers, characters, licensed properties, and brands,” according to the official website.  It is a way to determine if viewers are still enjoying watching someone on television and if they find them enjoyable and relatable.  It also helps determine what kind of commercials and brands work with the show.

There is trouble afoot between Kelly and Shannon Storms Beador, who are both producing a liquid.  Since Kelly cannot distinguish between water and other liquids, she freaked out when she found out Shannon was creating a tincture.  Kelly asked first what a tincture was, before noting that it rhymed with “sphincter” and was therefore funny.  Shannon freaked out that Kelly commented on her newest lemon-tincture venture and her poor boyfriend, John Janssen, was just caught in the crossfire.

While the ladies were preparing for Braunwyn’s vow renewal, Kelly was upset that Braunwyn couldn’t handle being around tequila.  Kelly, ever the empath, said, “Why should you punish everyone just because you’re an alcoholic?”  “She’s about a sensitive as a porcupine,” Gina responded.  Kelly greeted Braunwyn with a large bottle of tequila in her arms and commented that she didn’t realize it was a trigger for her.

There was plenty of alcohol at the event, and there was even champagne and a mixed drink available as they walked in.  Kelly can’t even part with tequila to benefit a friend for a single night.   In addition to that, Kelly making jokes that Braunwyn is a quitter for quitting drinking is…horrifying.

While at one time, Kelly was funny and provided entertainment, she seems to be losing her audience quickly.  Her rude comments coupled with her inability to be a good person or friend at any point seem to be wearing on everyone, including her castmates.  Shannon might be dramatic but at least she isn’t a horrible person.

Between her antics on-screen and off-screen, Kelly’s fan base is shrinking by the minute.  Viewers like their housewives over-the-top, but they have to be balanced out with a redeeming quality or two.  Kelly has none.  It is getting hard to watch someone so clearly out of touch with everything who thinks they are funny but in reality, they are alienating their fans with each quip.
