The Real Housewives of Orange County has Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke at odds over their behavior the past couple of months, but who is right?
When filming for The Real Housewives of Orange County was over, Kelly Dodd spent much of her time flying around the country for one reason or another. She was in Florida, New York, and back again multiple times, which drew criticism from…everyone. But now, Braunwyn Windham-Burke threw some shade at Kelly in her interview on Us Weekly’s podcast, Us Weekly’s Getting Real with the Housewives.
The episode from Oct. 23 featured Braunwyn and her feelings on Kelly’s behavior during the pandemic, in addition to the Black Lives Matter movement. Kelly said that the Coronavirus was “God’s way of thinning the herd,” left her daughter at home while she traveled all around the country, offered insincere apologies, and wore a “Drunk Wives Matter” hat at her wedding festivities. Fans of Kelly and RHOC were not thrilled with her behavior as she seemed to be mocking the whole situation.
So when Braunwyn was asked about the situation on the podcast, she did not hold back. “We are not speaking. We are diametrically opposed in our ideology right now,” Braunwyn noted. She criticized Kelly for her behavior, behavior that a lot of other people felt was inappropriate, too. “I believe Black Lives Matter, and she believes Drunk Wives Matter. And that’s something that I don’t find funny. I have forgiven her a lot for her big mouth over the years.”
In Kelly’s defense, Braunwyn has spent the last few months traveling all over herself. She went to Puerto Rico, Aspen, New York, Salt Lake City, and all over California. She documented her trips and all of the people she saw. Her kids were at home and even if she respected the rules about the virus initially, she was still engaging in risky behavior recently.
Kelly responded to Braunwyn’s comments and noted that she has one teenage daughter at home that stayed with her dad during the lockdown, while Braunwyn has four young children that were at home with their nannies while she traveled. Kelly promised to “eat Braunwyn alive” at the reunion, which sounds promising.
Braunwyn noted last week that she was not speaking to any of her castmates, but Shannon Storms Beador recently reached out to her. She also said she left the finale early, so there is bound to be a lot left unsaid.
These aren’t the usual lighthearted antics that the wives sometimes fight about. These are real issues that impact our entire country, and it will certainly divide viewers just like it divided the cast. The reunion should film sometime soon, which sounds about as messy as possible at this moment in time. Is it safe to say we can’t wait? We can’t wait.
Kelly Dodd & The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo every Wednesday at 9 PM.
