The Real Housewives of Orange County might be full of huge houses and designer clothes, but Gina Kirschenheiter represents another side of it.

Fans of The Real Housewives of Orange County often say that Gina Kirschenheiter doesn’t deserve to be a housewife.  They give a variety of reasons, such as her style, her house, her car, her financial situation, and the fact that she isn’t married.  But who are we to judge Gina’s journey of bettering herself?  If Braunwyn Windham-Burke can have her sobriety journey documented on RHOC, why can’t Gina’s glow-up be documented?

Gina might not have the best style of any of the housewives, but that’s probably because she’s styling herself and buying stuff herself.  So many of these ladies have full glam squads and companies reaching out to offer designer clothes for publicity.  Sometimes, I see Gina wear a shirt that I have from Target six years ago.  Who cares?  Sure, she’s not wearing the Gucci 2020 Fall/Winter collection, but we aren’t either.

In my opinion, this makes Gina one of the more relatable housewives.  She lives in a townhome with her kids and her boyfriend.  Meanwhile, Braunwyn lives in an 8,000 square foot home with a club and a pirate ship.  Who can relate to that?  Although a lot of viewers don’t watch Housewives for relatable content, sometimes it can be comforting.

In her last season, Gina also dealt with domestic violence issues stemming from her ending marriage.  Not many people would actually talk about that on camera and be honest about the situation that unfolded.  So watching her move into a happy home with her new boyfriend elicits feelings of happiness, not feelings of the home being “sad and depressing.”

Though Gina might not look and have the bank account of every other housewife on the block, we appreciate and enjoy her journey.  There can only be so many copy & paste women cast on these shows, and we get plenty of that.  Glow up, Gina!  We love to see it.

The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo every Wednesday at 9 PM.
