The Real Housewives of Orange County are all dealing with the ramifications of Braunwyn Windham-Burke getting sober and it isn’t pretty.

The Real Housewives of Orange County is wrapped up in the situation with Braunwyn Windham-Burke and her drinking.  Braunwyn flipped out at Shannon Storms Beador’s Real for Real Cuisine party and like she does, made the entire party about her.  She screamed, threw a glass in the pool, demanded that she talk to various people throughout the party, and eventually let her secret out that she was 30 days sober.  “Hey, can I talk to you for a second?  You can come too.”

Braunwyn used Shannon’s party as some sort of convention where she went around having mini-conferences with people to explain one thing or another while crying.  “Excuse me, lemonade boy?  Would you get my husband?”  It is sad watching her spiral and lurk around the party when obviously, she should just go home.  “Do me a favor and go grab Sean?”

After she left the party, Braunwyn went home, cried, worked out, and confided in her 18-year-old daughter that she has never dealt with something like that sober.  She said she went in thinking she could be strong and get Shannon to admit that she said Gina Kirschenheiter’s house was sad and small.  “Here I am, feeling everything,” she told Rowan.

Watching Braunwyn wade through these first few months of sobriety is hard.  I’m sure it is harder for her to relive it than it is for us to watch it the first time, but it sure is messy.  She asked Sean when she would stop feeling so crazy all of the time, and unfortunately, that probably won’t happen for a while.  If Braunwyn wasn’t ready to tell everyone about her sobriety, perhaps she shouldn’t have attended the event.

Of course, this is her job, but it doesn’t seem like the right way to handle things.  We’re not here to judge anyone’s journey, but perhaps she would benefit from some of the skills and coping mechanisms that they teach you in rehab?  Ways to deal with triggers and parties and everything else one deals with during the day-today.  Having Braunwyn be healthy seems more important than having Braunwyn be dramatic.

Going to a party and derailing the whole thing with your drama seems like a good way to take a step back into an unhealthy place.  Not to mention, getting plastic surgery in such a state seems inadvisable.  But here we are, watching this go down and wondering what catastrophe is next…

The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo every Wednesday at 9 PM.
