RHONY: Eboni K. Williams says the franchise “represents boss women”
By Amanda Cline
Eboni K. Williams talked to Glamour about her journey to becoming the newest Real Housewives of New York cast member and what she has in store for us.
Eboni K. Williams spoke to Glamour about her first few weeks as a cast member on The Real Housewives of New York and we are loving her as an addition. Eboni promised to bring “not Black perfection, but Black excellence” to a franchise that has been dying for some representation of New Yorkers that exists outside of the Ramona Singers and the Sonja Morgans of the city.
The newest RHONY member shared that the cast has been taking all of the proper precautions while filming, especially since she already caught the virus back in April. Because of this, Eboni noted she was being “hyper-vigilant” about protocols and procedures. She even gave a shout out to Bravo and the production company, Shed Media Group, about their willingness to take things seriously.
Eboni said that when she was approached with the opportunity, she weighed the pros and cons of it. But after noting that NYC has such a huge unrepresented Black and Hispanic population that has never held the magical red apple, she knew she had to take the opportunity. She laughed when asked how it was going with the other women, noting it had been “interesting.”
Leah McSweeney posted a photo on Instagram with Eboni during one event earlier in October, presumably pretty early into filming. Since Leah was a newcomer to the group last season, it makes sense she would help welcome Eboni into the group. Though this is her first season, Eboni was quick to share that she is a huge Bravo and RHONY fan. “RHONY really was always one of my favorite franchises because it represents boss women. New Yorkers, we have an edge.”
While Eboni is no stranger to television, it sounds like she is taking this opportunity and running with it. It isn’t easy coming into a group of established friends like Ramona, Sonja, and Luann de Lesseps, but we have faith in her!
Since filming just started, we aren’t close to the new season at all, but we’re still looking forward to it. You can find Eboni @ebonikwilliams on Instagram, and as of Oct. 21, Eboni is starting her own podcast, Holding Court with Eboni K. Williams. Give it a listen to get to know her better before the new season.
The Real Housewives of New York City will be back on Bravo for reruns!
