It seems someone asked Kelly Dodd to apologize ahead of the Real Housewives of Orange County premiere, but she could not be any less sincere.

After the backlash from her hat, Kelly Dodd went on Instagram and said, “People who can’t get a joke, go yourselves.”  After that, The Real Housewives of Orange County star issued a statement on her Instagram that was most likely supposed to be an apology.  She explained why the “Drunk Wives Matter” hat was funny: because she’s going to be a drunk wife soon.  She went on to say it was not meant to offend anyone and that, “I support black lives and racial equality!”

But in the comments, Kelly was clear she did not want to apologize and only did so because her PR team told her to.  The problem with all of that?  She didn’t actually apologize at any point.  And the fact that she said, “I’m sorry that people are so hyper sensitive over nothing,” really rounded out a great week for Kelly.

At no point did Kelly actually use the phrase “I’m sorry” to apologize that people might have been offended by the hat.  Yes, it is just a hat, but when you’re on a TV show that is based on your popularity, wouldn’t it be better to not offend half of your fan base?  If Kelly is simply trying to remain relevant, there have to be easier, less offensive ways to do that.

A popular Instagram account, @BravoOmg posted a photo earlier this week stating that they and a few other accounts won’t be watching or discussing the upcoming season of RHOC due to the issues with Kelly.  Kelly reposted this photo to her account and said that these were the “whack jobs after me.  I am a Mexican and my husband to be @RickLeventhal is a JEW!!”  She obviously deleted this after more backlash in the comments.

This weekend happens to be Kelly’s wedding to Rick Leventhal and Dorinda Medley is officiating.  We also think Ramona Singer will be in attendance.  If nothing else, be sure to watch the mess on social media on Saturday – it is sure to be just that, a mess.

The Real Housewives of Orange County premieres Wednesday, Oct. 14!
