The Real Housewives of Atlanta: NeNe Leakes is done with the show

Ahead of The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13, NeNe Leakes announced she is leaving the show after much speculation about her potential role.

NeNe Leakes has been a part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta for 11 seasons now in some capacity or another, but she is officially done.  Andy Cohen confirmed the news in an Instagram post saying, “I am going to miss Nene on the show, but I’m hoping we work together again soon and will remain in each other’s orbits forever.”

NeNe also posted on her YouTube channel addressing the rumors in a video called “Listen Closely, I got something to tell you!”  She started off by thanking her fans for their support and discussed her long and exhausting journey that revolved around contract negotiations.

NeNe noted that there were a lot of emotions on both sides of things, but they could not come to an agreement ahead of the new season.  So, NeNe is walking away from RHOA 13 years after the start of the show.

NeNe thanked Bravo, the production company, the cast, and the fans for the memories and everything else that they have been through together in her long run with the network.  In her announcement video, she seems almost happy with the decision.

She addressed the fact that a report came out last week that was allegedly from her team, but says she did not approve of the report before it got out.  NeNe also says she cannot confirm or deny the information that was released.  This is probably related to the TMZ article about NeNe filing a discrimination lawsuit against the channel.

There has still been a lot of drama leaking out into the press about NeNe and Porsha Williams and the other ladies.  Who knows what is real and what isn’t yet until the new season comes out.  Perhaps being on the show has just gotten to be too much.  We can’t blame her for walking away, but we will miss her!

The Real Housewives of Atlanta will be back on Bravo later this year.
