Real Housewives of Potomac: New houses, new wife, new birds…same drama
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of Potomac are a breath of fresh air in the Real Housewives world, and the new season was worth the wait.
The Real Housewives of Potomac returned this week and it is just what the world needed right now. The Maryland ladies have been off our screens since September 2019 and a lot of drama has gone down since then – and even since filming wrapped. For the most part, the biggest issues in the group remain between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels.
The first few seconds of season 5 started with clips from the fight between Monique and Candiace, and then went back seven weeks to the beginning. We also got to see Karen Huger’s new house, Monique’s new bird, and Ashley Darby’s new baby. We could do without Ashley’s old husband though.
New wife Wendy Osefo was at the anniversary party Candiace threw, where she seemed to hit it off with Monique immediately. Candiace noted that she was saving up for a house but spent $22k on the denim & diamonds party (with a cash bar), while Gizelle bought a $900k house and is basically modifying it into a completely new home. Are either of these good ideas? Probably not. And we love that for them.
We saw Gizelle Bryant’s house before, but it looks totally different now. One new thing she did bring to the table is her ex-husband, Jamal Bryant. Her kids don’t seem to love the new, old, relationship and her storyline is already taking form.
In other relationship news, Robyn Dixon and Juan Dixon seem to be moving forward in their relationship, too. Robyn seemed to propose a proposal so the couple could find a new home to keep their love in. This has been Robyn’s storyline for five seasons now.
Candiace and Monique tried to keep it cool between one another, but that did not last long. Candiace and her Twitter reactions are going to get her in hot water with the group, and will likely keep her there. But we have a long way to go before the fight at the fancy farm that likely fractured the group for good.
The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5 starts on Sunday, August 2 at 9 PM.
