The Real Housewives of New York may have lost a cast member, but Elyse Slaine really stepped up the drama during this episode. Is an apple in her future?
In the absence of Tinsley Mortimer, The Real Housewives of New York seems to have bumped Elyse Slaine into a more full-time friend position. While most viewers have been focusing on the antics of Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, and Leah McSweeney, the heat was on Ramona Singer this episode.
Ramona is still full-speed ahead with planning her intimate 80-girlfriend birthday party. Elyse might not have earned herself an invitation yet, but she has sort of seamlessly made her way into the group. She was supposedly coming on as Ramona’s friend, but Ramona is having none of that. They are having an argument about one thing, but the argument is actually about Ramona bringing Elyse on the show and then turning her back on her.
Elyse may not even be a housewife, technically, but she’s had no problem calling out Dorinda and Sonja as she sees fit. On her journey out to the Berkshires, Elyse posted on her Instagram, “It’s all fun and games until someone pisses me off.”
Obviously, that person was Ramona. And though they can’t outright say, “I got you on the show and now you’re being mean,” we are reading between the lines.
According to Elyse, Ramona has a tendency to blow up friendships and drop people when they are no longer useful to her. It appears that is what happened here between the old friends. While Ramona wants respect from Elyse, she seems to be offering no respect in return. She even said that because Elyse has been discussing their friendship, it bothered her because she is private. “Bottom line is, what’s your problem?”
Eventually, Ramona said she was upset that Elyse didn’t back her up when Dorinda got in her face at the Halloween party. She was also adamant that she has enough friends and doesn’t need Elyse’s friendship.
The bottom line is: Ramona has 80 girlfriends to attend her party, but cannot extend that number to 81 in order to include Elyse.
The Real Housewives of New York is on Thursdays at 9 PM ET!
