Vanderpump Rules: Is Las Vegas the future for the show?
By Amanda Cline
If Vanderpump Rules is done, will Las Vegas be the move for a similar show based on attractive staff members serving goat cheese balls and fighting?
There have been a lot of ups and downs for Vanderpump Rules, especially in recent memory. What used to be a show about friends drinking too much and arguing is now a show about racists having a platform to be ignorant (Lala Kent maintains that she is Tupac Shakur reincarnated), and Scheana Shay trying to find love. But is Las Vegas possibly in the cards for the future of a once-beloved show?
Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesar’s Palace has been open for a while now, full of promising 20-somethings living their best lives and (presumably) drinking too much and arguing. Since there’s been so much dark drama following the Hollywood location, is the best move just to cut their losses and move on?
If they got rid of everyone problematic on the show, we’d be left watching Katie Maloney knit and watching Scheana make her famous enchiladas. If they headed to Vegas, there would be a whole group of new, young, thirsty-for-screentime staff members to entertain. Not to mention the clientele in Vegas has to be more entertaining than the Hollywood clients.
But what would happen with the Sexy Unique Restaurant if that happened? I’m sure it would sustain by selling goat cheese balls and fans would still flock to the location for the chance of seeing Lisa Vanderpump. There was already overlap with one staff member and the boys when they went to Vegas on a trip.
Where would Lisa spend her time? Presumably, someone is already the manager of the new restaurant, but would Lisa take on a bigger role? If she did need to take on a bigger role, she would probably spend a few days a month flying out to the other location to keep an eye on things.
There’s also the opportunity for a show about TomTom including some of the newer cast members, including Danica Dow and Dayna Kathan. So if we lose the original show as we knew and loved it (past tense), we will persevere. There’s room for another reality show in the Vanderpump Rules-shaped-hole in our hearts.
Vanderpump Rules is on Bravo….for reruns.
