Kelly Dodd is well on her way to another week of defending her comments over the weekend just as RHOC is getting ready to film again.
In not-very-surprising news, RHOC’s Kelly Dodd has once again angered fans with her flippant attitude about racism. In a post on her Instagram, Kelly posted a meme about arguing with people on social media. A fan commented and asked if Kelly really believed that because she was of Mexican descent, she couldn’t be racist. Kelly’s response? “I’ve experienced racism personally. I’m a woman of color and love everyone.”
Of course, as viewers, we don’t know what Kelly has experienced in her life. One would think that if Kelly was a victim of racism, she would perhaps be more understanding? Perhaps she would not make off the cuff racist remarks for no reason, if she knew how terrible that felt?
Kelly has been under fire for her comment back from before her first season where she said, “I don’t like Black guys. I don’t even know any Black guys.” Recently, Tamra Judge said that Kelly should be fired for her comments. Instead of letting the drama die down or apologizing again, Kelly thought posting a meme about kids eating paste was the right move.
Of course, the issue isn’t that Kelly has experienced discrimination. The issue is that she seems to think that her personal experiences give her the right to act poorly towards others. It is being used as a means of justification for Kelly saying she didn’t like men of a certain race.
Last season on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Kelly made many fans for how she handled both Tamra and Vicki Gunvalson as they tried to oust her. Since the pandemic started, Kelly seems to be losing fans at a rapid pace. She’s said that COVID-19 was “God’s way of thinning the herd,” she’s been traveling across the country repeatedly just to be with her fiancé while he reports on the news, and she’s been very lax with her precautions. Every day it seems we have another meaningless apology video from her.
How is this going to affect her presence on the show next season? It will be interesting to see.
The Real Housewives of Orange County will be back later this year.
