Below Deck Mediterranean: Peter Hunziker has been fired
By Amanda Cline
Below Deck Mediterranean lost two crew members this week when Peter Hunziker was fired for an unacceptable Instagram story.
Bravo announced that Below Deck Mediterranean’s Peter Hunziker had been fired earlier today due to a racist post on his Instagram. The post, which has been deleted, was a photo of a woman and made a joke about dating “the nice Caucasian guy Peter from whole foods.” Unfortunately, the photo that accompanied the Instagram story is just as disgusting as the caption used.
According to the post by Bravo, “Peter Hunziker of Below Deck Mediterranean has been terminated for his racist post. Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance for subsequent episodes.” Self-described as “Party Pete” and an all-American party boy, Pete was really going to make a name for himself by being annoying.
Peter made a name for himself quickly when he called Malia White sweetheart repeated and Captain Sandy Yawn called a meeting about it. Sandy requested that the men on the deck crew respect the women they were working for. Pete then cried when Lara Flumiani quit after 24 hours on the boat.
Pete also made dinner awkward when he said he was inspired by a manager at a local Dominoes Pizza that he worked for. Since Pete is being edited out as we speak, it will be interesting to see what they do with the rest of the season. The crew works in very tight quarters which could add to the difficulty of editing a character out completely.
While this is a welcome firing as Bravo doesn’t need more racist cast members, viewers are still waiting for Jax Taylor to be fired. Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni, and Peter have all been fired in the last two weeks and it doesn’t seem like the end yet.
Below Deck Mediterranean is on Bravo Monday nights at 9 PM ET!
