Below Deck Sailing Yacht has two couples on the crew this season, but they are offering very different looks at how dating on a boat works.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew consists of some couples, one of which who has been dating long-term, while the other has barely been dating for a week.  Adam Glick and Jenna MacGillivray started their rocky relationship when they arrived in the galley together, but Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan have been together for a while.  They also lived on board the boat with captain Glenn Shephard prior to filming in order to get the boat in order.

“Jenna and Adam are so wrapped up in each other that they aren’t really paying attention to anyone else,” Ciara said in an interview.  Though she and Paget are also dating, they tend to keep their PDA to after-hours, and when they have a free moment off the boat.  Meanwhile, Adam and Jenna are making out in the galley every five minutes.

Boat dating done right

Ciara and Paget are an example of how dating on a boat should be done.  Ciara has noted that though they are together, they don’t want their relationship to negatively impact the crew.  Imagine that?

When Georgia Grobler asked if Jenna was okay because she was obviously not okay and not doing her work, Georgia offered some advice that Adam might not be the right guy for Jenna.  Jenna told her not to “go there” because she had no idea what she was talking about.  But since Jenna doesn’t do any work and is busy following Adam around while Adam is busy screaming about vegetables, perhaps Georgia has a point.

Even Captain Glenn noticed that the interior service had been lacking, especially for the most recent charter.  At one point, Byron Hissey came down to the galley and told Jenna what the guests wanted to drink.  Jenna asked, with an attitude, “Why would they tell you that?”  To which Byron replied, “Because you weren’t up there.”  Then the couple took a break together to take a nap.

Meanwhile, these two have known each other for all of a month at this point and it is clearly impacting their work.  Jenna said she thinks you have to be selfish at times and that she “deserves this feeling” that she’s getting with Adam.  After Glenn started clearing glasses because Jenna was in Adam’s bed, Glenn decided to find out what the issue was.  Clearly, the issue is Jenna.

Unfortunately, it seems like Jenna just isn’t great at her job.  She doesn’t bring anything to the table, interior-wise.  Her parties and decorations have been sub-par, her service isn’t very friendly, she’s certainly not training the girls or helping them learn, they are doing everything on their own.

She’s been more focused on revenge, and Adam, than being a manager, which doesn’t bode well for her future in yachting.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is on Mondays at 9 PM ET.
