Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Madison Stalker is doing her best under the circumstances
By Amanda Cline
Madison Stalker is currently on the first season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht and has been holding her own as second stew aboard Parsifal III.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht is in its first season with an all-new crew, save for Adam Glick. Madison Stalker took on the role of second stew for this season, under chief stew Jenna MacGillivray. She’s from Detroit, Michigan, and has been working on yachts for over three years now.
Throughout the season, Madison has been accused of being a bad crew member. Jenna even approached Captain Glenn Shephard about the situation because she felt Madison wasn’t working hard enough. From what we have seen, Madison has done a fair job at everything she’s done. She may not have set up that one beach picnic in a timely fashion, but who cares? She was responsible for taking care of entire groups of charter guests on her own. Madison even made grilled cheese on her own that night for a group of drunk guests so she didn’t have to wake Adam up! That sounds like a team player to us.
During the most recent episode, the crew was upset by Madison’s behavior at dinner. She seemed annoyed that everyone was on a date except for herself and Byron Hissey. Byron called her dramatic and said she has a need for attention. Madison ended up storming off after the meal and later, Georgia Grobler offered a slight explanation for her behavior. Georgia said that Madison has had a traumatic past which sometimes can get the best of her.
Madison’s sister, Paige Stalker, was only 16 when she was murdered in Detriot while out with her friends. According to a local news article, Click On Detroit, the Christmas Eve murder remains unsolved more than four years later.
It isn’t an excuse for her behavior but offers some insight. Madison said that once she graduated from Michigan State University, “she succumbed to the wanderlust lifestyle and bought a one-way ticket to Fort Lauderdale” to work in yachting, according to her biography on BravoTV.com.
Perhaps Madison would just like someone on her side for once, instead of being harassed by Jenna or ignored by the couples of the group. Madison and Parker McCown worked well together, but he obviously left during an earlier episode. It is hard to be left out of a group, especially when you are experiencing something such as filming for a reality television show.
Imagine what Jenna, Madison, and Georgia could have accomplished together if Jenna was a supportive chief stew? It seems that Madison is doing her best given the circumstances. Perhaps next week is when it all comes crashing down…
Below Deck Sailing Yacht is on Mondays at 9 PM ET.
