RHONY: Ramona Singer revealed she tested positive for Lyme disease
By Amanda Cline
Ramona Singer thinks she contracted Lyme disease while spending time at her home in the Hamptons. Her sister previously was diagnosed in 2012.
Ramona Singer revealed this week that she tested positive for Lyme disease after she started feeling sick around Valentine’s Day, according to E! News. The Real Housewives of New York star said that after mentioning she was feeling unwell, a friend sent her to Dr. Bernard Schayes who ran a full panel of tests. The test for Lyme disease came back positive and he put her on “Prednisone for her congestion and slight fever.”
Ramona thinks she could have contracted the disease while spending time in the Hamptons, where her other home is. She thinks a tick bite went unnoticed which could have led to the positive test. Now, she says she’ll be re-tested in a month to see if the result is still positive and go from there.
She went on to say that back in 2012, her sister started feeling unwell. Ramona said they did all kinds of tests and concluded she had Lyme disease, which sent Ramona into a tizzy. “I’ve become a maven since then. I’m aggressive, so I started calling all my friends saying, ‘My sister has Lyme disease, who do you know?'” Classic Ramona, really.
She thinks the illness was caught early enough that she should feel better soon. Ramona certainly isn’t the first star to battle with the disease, as The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Yolanda Hadid, famously suffered from Lyme during her time on the show.
Yolanda started feeling better once she had her implants removed, but not before her marriage to David Foster fell apart.
The Real Housewives of New York City will be back on April 2, 2020.
