Vanderpump Rules: Are Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright the final straw?
By Amanda Cline
Vanderpump Rules has been on the decline the past couple of seasons, but are Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright the final nail in the coffin of a dead show?
As Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright inch closer to their infantile princess themed wedding in a castle, Vanderpump Rules is veering into Bridezilla and Groomzilla territory. Every breath they take revolves around the wedding and they expect every breath anyone else takes to also revolve around their wedding. But the problem lies with what happens after the wedding, after all of the glitz has worn off and everyone has gone home. After you’ve alienated all of your relationships for a six-hour party.
A fairytale or a nightmare
In last week’s episode, Jax was so mad he wanted to beat up Tom Sandoval for defending Ariana Madix’s sexuality because their pastor hated the LGBTQ community. Brittany requested that Jax beat up Tom for “ruining” her bridal shower. Mind you, this was like the 25th bridal event the cast was attending. “I don’t know any fairytales where the princess convinces the prince to commit aggravated assault,” Ariana said.
Unrelatable
But the biggest issue is that viewers are no longer relating to the cast. They used to be poor, drunk, sloppy, friends fighting in alleyways, which was relateable (just admit it!). Now, they are rich adults throwing their friends of 20 years under the bus for some screen time in a tacky castle. They are toxic, hateful, 30-year-olds willing to cut anyone down for a minute in the spotlight.
At one point, as Brittany dis-invited Ariana from the wedding, Ariana said that Brittany was working hard to maintain her ignorance. I think that’s the truest thing I’ve ever heard on the show. Jax and Brittany are hateful, ignorant, and though the rest of the cast isn’t great, Jax and Brittany are doing a great job of making the show unwatchable.
WEDDING OR BAN
The rest of the cast has to discuss the wedding and be apart of the wedding or they don’t get screen time. Jax said he isn’t even including his mom because he doesn’t want to deal with her. Red flag #35.
“First of all, figure out your sexuality because it changes every day,” Jax said about Ariana. Jax and Brittany are the biggest hypocrites on the show and are allowed to make out with people of the same sex when it benefits them. Everyone knows weddings are the most boring content a show can pump out, but adding such toxicity to the mix really makes for an unenjoyable, insufferable, awful experience.
I think Tom and Ariana’s move away from this group of friends speaks volumes about them as people. It is okay to outgrow toxic relationships and toxic friends, especially if they can’t accept you as a person.
